Smear Test

30 min
205 British pounds
Crown Road

Service Description

This test uses a soft plastic brush to take some cells from the outside and opening of the cervix so that they can be looked at under a microscope for any abnormalities which could potentially lead on to cervical cancer in the future. As with NHS cervical screening, if any abnormalities are detected then the sample will automatically be tested, at no extra cost, for the high-risk subtypes of HPV. HPV is a virus that is known to have a clear link with cervical cancer and the chance of developing cancer when you do not have this virus is so very small that we would not worry about any minor cell changes in that situation.
