Dr Alan Tang is a Consultant Physician who has treated people with sexual health and HIV-related conditions for over 30 years.
He is the sexual health specialist’s specialist to refer to for in depth advice when needed after initial management.
Dr Tang has special interests in male sexual dysfunction and genital skin problems in addition to all aspects of sexually transmitted infections and HIV.

STD Testing
Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are commonly referred to as Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
At The Sexual Health GP, we offer STD testing for both Men & Women.
A completely confidential, fast, and accurate service, testing can be ordered directly online as no Doctors/GP referral is required.
HIV Testing
The 4th Generation ELISA test, which is used as an Early Detection HIV test, typically 2-4 weeks after exposure. Most people develop these antibodies within 14-25 days, but in rare cases, it may take up to three months for them to develop.
Included in HIV ab test: HIV 1, HIV 2, and P24 antigen.
LGBT+ Sexual Health
Sexual health and men who have sex with men (including gay and bisexual men)
Anyone who is sexually active is at risk from STIs if they have unprotected sex. Young gay and bisexual men are the group at greatest risk of getting infected with HIV in the UK and they are also at increased risk from other STIs.

Sexual health and women who have sex with women (including lesbians, bisexual women)
Even if you only have sex with other women you can still become infected with an STI – remember any sexually active person who has unprotected sex is at risk.
UTIs
A Urine Micro/ Culture test is used to detect bacteria in a urine sample which may be the cause of a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).
Most UTIs are due to a bacterial infection that begins in the urethra. The most common symptoms of a UTI are swelling or irritation of the urethra, lower back pain, a strong persistent need to urinate, and a burning sensation during urination.
